Questions parents actually ask
If something’s not covered here, just get in touch – we’d rather answer a question than have you arrive unsure about something.
FAQS – FULL SET
How do I book a session?
Our weekly kids MTB club sessions are booked online. Spaces are limited and usually go quickly, so it is first come, first served. Once you are booked in, you will receive all the information you need to get ready to ride.
What is the cancellation policy?
The policy depends on which type of session you have booked.
Saturday Club sessions
If plans change, let us know by email or WhatsApp as soon as possible.
- Cancel more than 48 hours before the session: full refund, or a free transfer to another available session — your choice.
- Cancel within 48 hours: no refund. We’ll offer a one-time transfer to another session within the same block, subject to availability.
- Don’t show up without letting us know: no refund and no transfer.
Week-long Courses
Because we commit significant planning, staffing, and venue costs well in advance of a course, a stricter policy applies.
- Cancel more than 2 weeks before the course starts: 50% refund.
- Cancel within 2 weeks of the course: no refund. We’ll do our best to offer a transfer to another course in the same season if one is available, but we can’t guarantee it.
- Don’t show up without letting us know: no refund and no transfer.
All cancellations must be submitted in writing — email or WhatsApp message — so there’s a clear record for both sides.
If something unexpected comes up and you’re not sure where you stand, just get in touch. We’d rather have a conversation than have a family feel they’ve been treated unfairly.
What’s the difference between a Saturday Club session and a Week-long Course?
They’re quite different products.
Saturday Club is our weekly mountain bike club. Sessions run every Saturday — junior riders in the morning, youth riders in the afternoon. You can book individual sessions or a block of Saturdays. Each session is three hours, at a different venue each week across Greater Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Falkirk, and Stirlingshire. It’s designed for regular, ongoing riding rather than a one-off event.
Week-long Courses are intensive programmes running across consecutive days — typically during school holidays. They’re higher-commitment and higher-intensity than a Saturday Club session, covering more ground (literally and technically) over the course of the week. Places are limited and sell out quickly.
The booking and cancellation terms are different for each — see the cancellation policy question above, or the full Terms & Conditions.
I’ve booked a block of Saturday Club sessions. What happens if I need to cancel one of them?
The standard Saturday Club cancellation policy applies to each session in the block individually. Cancel with more than 48 hours’ notice and you can transfer that session or get a refund for it. Cancel within 48 hours and no refund is given for that session, though we’ll try to transfer you once within the block.
Any unused sessions at the end of a block are non-refundable unless we cancelled the session ourselves.
What happens if a session is cancelled because of weather?
We ride in all weathers — rain, cold, and grey skies are not a cancellation. Sessions are only called off when conditions pose a genuine safety risk: lightning, severe winds, or ice that makes trails dangerous regardless of ability.
If a session is cancelled, we’ll notify all booked participants via the WhatsApp Community by 8am on the morning of the session. If you haven’t had a message from us by then, the session is going ahead. Dress for the conditions and we’ll see you there.
When we cancel: you’ll be offered a full refund or a free transfer to another session. We’ll never leave you out of pocket because of a decision we had to make for safety reasons.
This applies to both Saturday Club sessions and Week-long Courses. On a course, if an individual day is affected by weather, we’ll adapt the programme where we can rather than cancelling the whole course.
What if we’re running late to a session?
Let us know as soon as possible via WhatsApp or email. We run structured group sessions with riders ready to go, so we aim to start on time. If you’re late we’ll do our best to get your child joined in, but we may not be able to delay the start for the whole group.
For Week-long Courses, punctuality matters more — particularly on days with longer rides or external venue bookings. If you know you’ll be late on a specific day, flag it with us the evening before so we can plan.
Bike Safety
Is my bike suitable for the session?
We love seeing riders arrive ready to ride, but safety always comes first.
All bikes must be in a safe, working condition suitable for group mountain bike riding. If we assess on arrival that a bike is not safe to use, we reserve the right to prevent that rider from taking part in the session.
In these cases, no refund will be given.
We understand this may be disappointing, but we must ensure the safety of all riders and keep the session running safely and fairly for the whole group.
If you are unsure about your bike, please contact us before the session. We are happy to help you check things in advance and point you in the right direction. Unfortunately, we are not able to carry out bike checks or repairs on the day.
My child has never ridden off-road before. Is that okay?
Yes – that’s exactly what junior sessions are for. All we ask is that they can ride independently on flat ground and use their gears. The rest we build together.
What happens if it rains?
We ride. Rain is not a cancellation – it’s a Tuesday in Scotland. Dress your child in waterproofs and they’ll have a brilliant time. Sessions are only called off for severe weather that poses a genuine safety risk. You’ll know by 8am if that’s the case.
Do parents need to stay for the session?
For junior sessions, you’re welcome to drop off your child – we ask that a parent or guardian stays at or nearby the venue. For youth sessions, you’re welcome to drop off and collect. Please be back five minutes before the session ends.
My child’s bike isn’t a mountain bike. Can they still come?
Possibly. Bring it along and we’ll take a look. A hybrid with decent knobbly tyres might be fine for beginners. A road bike or BMX won’t work. If you’re thinking of buying a bike, message us first – we’ll help you avoid wasting money on the wrong thing.
What if my child gets hurt during a session?
All coaches are first aid trained and carry a kit on every session. Minor injuries are dealt with on-site. For anything more serious, we’ll contact your emergency contact immediately and call 999 if needed.
Can we try a single session before buying a block?
Yes. Individual session tickets are available at £25 per rider. Block booking is better value – and is available for a short window before individual tickets go on sale. We’d always suggest a single session first if your child hasn’t done this kind of thing before.
Is there a waiting list if sessions are full?
Yes. Add your name to the waiting list through the booking page and we’ll contact you if a place becomes available.
Do you offer any financial assistance?
We have a small number of subsidised places available. Get in touch directly and we’ll handle the conversation with complete discretion. We want every child who wants to ride to be able to.
What if my child is nervous?
We see this every block and we’re well used to it. Have a read of our nervous riders section on the sessions page – and feel free to mention it at drop-off. We’ll make sure your child is looked after from the moment they arrive.
Can siblings ride in the same session?
If they’re in the same age group, yes. If one is a junior rider and one is a youth rider they’d be in different sessions – which works out well, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
My child is 10 but has never ridden off road before, which session should I book them in for?
It may be better for a youth aged rider to spend some time in the junior club where they will learn essential skills quickly before moving on, the same could be said for an 8 year old who is physically fit and capable to ride with the Youth club, this decision will be supported by your coach. If in doubt drop us a line to have a chat before you book anything
